Occupying the entire 88th floor of Melbourne’s Eureka Tower, the Eureka Skydeck 88 is the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the city’s most exciting new attractions.
Eureka Skydeck opened in 2007, not long after the opening of the tower itself. Constructed by Grollo Australia, Eureka Tower sits in Southbank in the CBD – on the banks of the Yarra River – and is the fourth-tallest residential building the world. In addition to the famous observation deck, Eureka Tower houses more than 550 apartments.
Open every day of the year, Eureka Skydeck offers stunning views of the city of Melbourne during the day and at night. Skydeck features 30 viewfinders that point to significant Melbourne landmarks and several pairs of free binoculars.
Skydeck includes a small outdoor area called The Terrace that is closed in high winds and – for an extra thrill – The Edge, a glass cube that extends from the building. The Edge projects three metres out from the tower, and sits suspended nearly 300 metres from the ground. When visitors enter the cube, the glass is opaque; once the cube is fully extended over the edge, the glass becomes clear.
As well breathtaking vistas, Skydeck features a cafe, learning resources for school groups and other visitors, function facilities and fun family events that run throughout the year.
Clarion Suites Gateway offers the ideal Melbourne accommodation from which to experience all that the city has to offer. Less than one kilometre away from Eureka Skydeck, Clarion Suites Gateway lets you see the best of Melbourne from one of its best hotels.
