Crown Casino is much more than just a casino, it is an entertainment hub, a retail precinct and home to some of Melbourne’s best restaurants and bars.
Located on the south bank of the Yarra River, the Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex was established in 1997. The complex covers an area of 510,000 square metres – around the size of two city blocks – making it the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of the largest in the world.
Crown Casino is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except on Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day). The entertainment sections of the complex are open to all ages, but children under 18 are not allowed into gaming areas or areas that serve alcohol.
With several nightclubs, a major cinema complex, numerous restaurants, food courts and shops, Crown Casino is one of Melbourne’s most popular CBD destinations for visitors and locals alike. A big favourite for the young (or the young-at-heart), the “Galactic Circus” arcade includes many electronic games, as well as laser tag and a bowling alley.
The complex is also home to a number of high-level fashion stores, including Prada, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Versace, as well as the stunning ‘Atrium’ entrance hall, which features stepped fountains and sound/light shows.
The Crown Palladium is one of Melbourne grandest ballrooms, and has hosted many of Australia’s most glamorous functions, such as the annual TV Week Logie Awards, Brownlow Medal, Allan Border Medal and the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix ball.
And of course, there’s the gaming – the casino area includes six main casino games of Blackjack, Craps, Pai Gow, Poker, Baccarat and Roulette (American version), and around 2500 poker machines.
There is no better place in Melbourne from which to enjoy all that Crown – and the rest of Melbourne – has on offer than Clarion Suites Gateway. Clarion Suites is just a couple of minutes walk away from the Crown complex, literally just across the footbridge.
